Privacy

This page covers giftinfo.org, the Under the Sink website. In short: we keep very little, we do not track you across the web, and we never sell anything we hold.

When you read the site

The server that runs the site writes ordinary technical logs: IP address, browser type, the address requested and the time. They exist for security and troubleshooting, are kept for a short period and are not used to build profiles of readers. We run no advertising trackers and no third-party analytics scripts.

The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which handles connection data to protect the site and speed it up, under Cloudflare's own privacy policy.

When you click a partner box

Some articles carry a marked partner box. When you click one, your browser sends us a short note naming the box and the partner, and we add one to a daily count for that box. The count holds no IP address, cookie or other identifier.

Partner links go through CJ, an affiliate network, before they reach the company's site. CJ and the company may set cookies to record that the visit came from us, so that a purchase can be credited. Those cookies are governed by their policies, not ours. The cookies page has more detail.

When you send us a note

The contact form asks for your name, an email address for the reply and your message. We store them so we can read and answer the note, and a copy is forwarded to our editorial inbox. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we never use your address for anything except replying.

The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to keep bots out. Turnstile processes information about your browser and device under Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Please do not send details of an exposure or anyone's health through the form. We cannot help with an exposure: call your local emergency number or a poison center (see official help).

How long we keep things

Messages are kept while they are useful for answering you and are then deleted. Daily click counts contain no personal data and are kept for reporting.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it or ask us to delete your messages. Write to labels@giftinfo.org and we will answer within a reasonable time. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Children

This is a general-interest site for adults running a household. It is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

When this page changes, the new version replaces this one.
